Funeral services for Henry Wilke, aged 71, who died suddenly Saturday morning at his farm, a mile south of Haven on the Lake Shore road, were held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Robert H. Kroos Funeral Home and at 2 o'clock at St. Peter's Lutheran church. Rev. Schink officiated and burial was made in the church cemetery.
The pallbearers were August Eisner, Gustave Adam, Theodore Wunsch, Gustave Unger, Charles Witthuhn and Otto Gurtner.
The quartet consisted of Martin Schumacher, Alfred Jost, Lois Czamanske and Hilda Schumacher. They sang "Wer Weis Wie Nahe Mir Mein Ende" and "Nach Der Heinat."
Mr. Wilke's death was a shock to his relatives and his many friends in the county. He left home a 9 o'clock Saturday morning to repair a fence in the field. At 11:30 o'clock he was found dead by his son, Julius.
Mr. Wilke, a life-long resident of this county, was born in the town of Mosel, October 19, 1861 and lived on the same farm all his life. His wife preceded him in death 12 years ago.
The survivors are six children; Mrs. Benno Versch, Plymouth; Arthur, town Mosel; Henry, Milwaukee; George, town Mosel; Nelda, city, and Julius on the farm. There are also five grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Dittmann, Cleveland; Mrs. Frank Berth, Millersville; Mrs. Julius Rautmann, School Hill and three brothers, Herman, Cleveland; August, Plymouth, and Oscar, Centerville.
