Mrs. Julius Rautmann, 83, of Route 2, Kiel, died Monday afternoon at St. Nicholas hospital after being in ill health the past four weeks.

She had been confined to the hospital since fracturing her hip in a fall at the home of a son, Armie, in the town of Meeme, where she had lived for 16 years.

Nee Louisa Wilke, she was born January 8,1868, in the town of Mosel, the daughter of Christ and Augusta Wilke, and was married to Julius Rautmann on April 21, 1889.

Following their marriage the couple settled on a farm in the town of Meeme where they spent their entire married life. Mrs. Rautmann was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, Louis Corners, and its Ladies' Aid society.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Luella Fessler, St. Nazianz; Mrs. Olga Voss, Millhome, and Mrs. Ovila Meyer, Pigeon Lake; four sons, Otto, town of Meeme; Oscar, Sheboygan; Edwin, town of Schleswig, and Armie, at home. Thirty-eight grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren also survive.

Her husband died in 1936. A son, August; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Frieda) Karsteadt and Mrs. Hugo (Viola) Winkel; four brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran church at Louis Corners, with the Rev. William Hartwig, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, Kiel, from 2 p.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday, and at the church from 11 a.m. Thursday to the hour of services.
