Mrs. Herbert C. Hinz, 87, of R. 1, Sheboygan, died at Memorial Hospital, Tuesday following a brief illness.

The former Nelda Wilke was born Sept. 4, 1903, in the Town of Mosel, daughter of the late Henry and Sophia Wilke. She attended district grade school and was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church near Haven.

She was married to Herbert C. Hinz of Sheboygan on June 23, 1943, and moved a short time later to the Town of Mosel. The couple later moved to Green Bay in 1947, living there until 1958.

While in Green Bay, she was manager of the Dietsch Dairy Bar of the Dietsch Dairy Co., which her husband owned.

In 1958 they returned to the Town of Mosel, where they were well-known as breeders of American saddle-bred horses.

Mrs. Hinz also was active in mink raising until the time of her illness and was a member of the local and state Mink Breeders Association.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sylvia) Batt, Town of Mosel; four grandchildren; and a brother, George, Sheboygan.

Proceeding her in death were a daughter, a grandson, a sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, with burial at Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
