Oscar Rautmann, 72, of 2120 N. 20th St., died at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital early Thursday morning, following a prolong illness.
He was born in the Town of Schleswig (Manitowoc County) on May 4, 1901, the son of Julius and Louisa Rautmann. On July 22, 1922, he married Nora Burkhardt at Louis Corners.
The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary last July.
Mr. Rautmann was an employee of the former Muhs Bakery for many years, and for 23 was employed at the Vollrath Co., retiring in 1967. Later, he was a parttime employee of the Johnston of the Bakery.
He was a member of the Vollrath retirees' union of the UAW; which he served as chairman, and of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. John (Georgine) Hicks and Mrs. Donald (Angelette) Steinhaus, both of Sheboygan; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Edwin and Armie, both of Manitowoc County; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Fessler of School Hill, and Mrs. William Voss of Millhome. He was preceded by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Church, with the Rev. John Hagen, pastor of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, officiating in the absence of Rev. Donald Knecht. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at Nickel's Funeral Home from 4:30 today until 11 a.m. Saturday, and then at the church from noon until time of services.
A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Rautmann's name for the St. Peter Church.
