John Roethel, 79, of 126 Walnut St., Sheboygan Falls, died Friday morning at Heritage Nursing Center in Sheboygan after a brief illness.
Mr. Roethel was born in the Town of Meeme on Feb. 27, 1891, the son of the late Henry and Emma Roethel.
O Dec. 25, 1915, he married the former Amanda Fiedler in the Town of Meeme. Mrs. Roethel died on July 27, 1969.
Mr. Roethel farmed for many years, before coming to Sheboygan Falls in 1944 to work for the Kohler Co. He retired in 1965.
Survivors include two sons, Gerhard, Sheboygan, and Willard, Sheboygan Falls; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers, George and Oscar, Town of Meeme, Hugo and Arvin, Oostburg; and Reinhold, Kiel; and four sisters, Mrs. Henry (Hildegard) Biskobing, Sheboygan, Mrs. Frieda Feldmann, rural Plymouth, Mrs. Henry (Emma) Mauk, Town of Rhine and Mrs. Mertha Gruenewald, Howards Grove-Millersville.
Another sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Huehns Funeral Home, Sheboygan Falls, with the Rev. Cornelius Reyen, pastor of the First Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday.
