Mrs. John Ney, 81, of 4527 Erie Ave., died early Sunday at the home of her son, Edwin Ney, 3775 Black River Rd. She had been in failing health the past two years and had recently been staying with her son.
The former Hulda Berth, she was born June 9, 1893, in the Town of Meeme (Manitowoc County), a daughter of the late Frank and Wilhelmina Berth.
She attended grade school at Spring Valley and Millersville.
On Jan. 3, 1917, she married Mr. Ney of the Town of Mosel at Millersville.
The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1967.
Mr. and Mrs. Ney resided on a farm in Mosel and operated a farm in the Town of Wilson, until 1964 when they moved to their present address.
Mr. Ney is a retired Millersville Box Co. employe.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheboygan.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Erwin of R. 1, Sheboygan Falls, Edwin of Town of Wilson and Herbert of Sheboygan; a daughter, Mrs. Ardon (Sylvia) Roethel of R. 1, Elkhart Lake; 25 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Berth, Howards Grove; a sister, Mrs. August Illig, Kiel, and a step-brother, Herbert Sohn, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by a sister, three brothers and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Leo Dietemeyer, assistant pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and at the church from 11:30 until the time of services.
A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Ney's name for the Trinity Together building fund.
