Herman Sommer, 1449 S. Ninth Street, passed away at his home Sunday morning.
Born in the town of Mosel September 17, 1871, he attended rural school. He was employed at the C. Reiss Coal Company for 14 years, and left there to go into partnership with his brother, Charles, in the livery business. After five years his brother sold his interest to Paul Zimbal. The firm was known as Sommer and Zimbal until 1925. When they dissolved partnership and he went into the general teaming business, retiring about 15 years ago.
He was married to Miss Josephine Mallman on December 15, 1897. The couple always made their home in this city.
Survivors are his wife and one foster son, Ingoman Sommer of Marquette, Mich.; and six brothers and one sister, William F. Sommer of this city, Edwin of Cresco, Iowa, Charles of this city, Gustav of Unity, Wis., Richard and Adolph of the town of Mosel, and Mrs. Robert Vogel of Cleveland. One sister, Mrs. Otto Sixel of the town of Herman, preceded him in death in May of this year.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran church. The Rev. Karl W. Ladewig will officiate and burial will be made in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ramm Funeral home from Monday evening until 11 a.m. Tuesday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
