Adolph F. Sommer, 76, of R.1, Cleveland, died at St. Nicholas Hospital Sunday afternoon after a short illness.
Born in the Town of Mosel on April 27, 1891, he was a son of the late Gottwerth and Maria Sommer. He was confirmed at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ in the Town of Mosel.
On June 8, 1921, he married the former Hattie Gosse.
Mr. Sommer had been employed at the Barthel Stolzenburg Garage for nine years. Since 1922, owned and operated the Sommer Garage in the Town of Mosel.
He was a veteran of World War I, having served in France. He was a member of the American Legion Kuhfahl - Meyer - Scheib Post No. 387, and a member of its firing squad. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ in Mosel.
Survivors are his wife and a son, Hilbert, R. 1, Cleveland. Eight brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, Town of Mosel, with the Rev. Kenneth Schultz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark’s Church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Nickel’s Funeral Home from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday and at the church from noon until time of services.
