ELMER H. BERGNER

Elmer H. Bergner, 77, of Park Lawn Home, Manitowoc, died early Friday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Private funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Henry E. Koch will officiate with burial in St. Johannes Cemetery, Cleveland.

Mr. Bergner was born Aug. 24, 1898, at Cleveland, son of the late Herman and Emma Roehl Bergner. He was educated in Cleveland schools. He was one of two original patrolmen for Manitowoc County Sheriff-Traffic Department, serving until he was elected sheriff of Manitowoc County from 1941 to 1945.

Survivors include a son, Eldred (Sheriff) Bergner, of Manitowoc; two brothers, Rueben, of Manitowoc and Edward, of Cleveland; and five sisters, Mrs. Elmer Kolb, of Cleveland, Mrs. Ellen Schaefer and Mrs. Fred Meyers, of Sheboygan, Mrs. Harvey Schuette, of Shawano and Mrs. Orville Grotegut, of Milwaukee. A sister preceded him in death.

There will be no visitation. Harry J. Bergner is in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church at Cleveland.
