On Nov. 1, 1885 he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Elizabeth Livingston. To this union there were eleven children born, of which two died in infancy, Maudie and Claudie. Those living are Mrs. Elsie Fowler, Mrs. Lizzie Stucker of Collinsville, Okla., Harvey of Montezuma, Kan., Loren, George, Hattie, Ruby, Myrtle, and Bessie. All were by his bedside, except Harvey who was present at the funeral. Mr. Elmore was converted in 1885 and united with the General Baptist Church and remained faithful to the end. He will be greatly missed as a Sunday school worker. Mr. Elmore moved with this parents from Tennessee to Kansas in 1871, settled near Cherryvale, living there until the spring of 1884, when he moved to Mt. Grove, Missouri, living there for a while then he moved back near Cherryvale. In 1903, he came to Chautauqua county and purchased the farm near Colfax where he resided until the time of his death. He was a kind and indulgent husband and father. Rev. Mr. Smallwood of Sedan conducted his funeral at the home, Aug. 17, taking for his text I Cor. 15:55. The choir beautifully sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "We Shall See the King Someday". Members of the Modern Woodmen of America were chosen as pallbearers. There are left to mourn his departure, besides his wife and children, a brother and sister, and a host of friends. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to Oak Hill cemetery where he was laid to rest to await the Resurrection morn." " We desire to thank our friends who so kindly assisted us in the sickness, death and burial of our dear husband and father, also for the floral offerings. Mrs. A. M. Elmore and family."
