About 1871, the family left the Putnam, Tennessee area and moved to Drum Creek Twp, Montgomery Co, KS following Mrs. Mary Brown Elmore's sister Lucinda & brother-in-law Edward Pennington. George died in 1872 of old civil war injuries, then Mary relocated to be near her mother and Elmore/Cooper families in Denlow, Douglas Co, Missouri after losing her two sons in 1882. George Washington, JR, as well as his sons, Washington Milroy, and Gideon Edmond Elmore are buried in Centennial Cemetery, near Cherryvale, Kansas. George and Mary had ten children. Their daughter, Mary Margaret born 1861, married William N East and moved to Belle Rive, Illinois where she died in 1887. I’ve yet to find burial info on her.
