"Joe Elmore's Gone ---- Josiah Elmore was born Dec. 3d, 1872; died Dec 24th, 1898 of that dreaded disease, consumption. He was converted at the age of seventeen and united with the General Baptist church and lived a consistent christian until he departed this life. He married Miss Bessie Martin, April 24th, 1894, who proved a faithful, true, and devoted helpmate by her patient, tender care during the long months of his suffering. He leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his loss, but our loss is his gain. He was prepared to meet God in peace. He died at the residence of his father-in-law, John Martin, in Ava. The funeral was conducted by Revs. Ralls and Smith and the body was laid to rest in the Ava cemetery Sunday, Dec 25 at 2 o'clock p.m. Joe, as he was known to his friends, for a long time lived in Ava where he made many friends by his upright gentlemanly ways. There is a world above, Where parting is unknown; A long eternity of love, Formed for the good alone; And faith beholds the dying here Transplanted to that glorius sphere."
