"H. W. Elmore, 86, dies at Mountain Grove, had been ill only a week was a charter member of the Denlow Church
Funeral services for Hiram Winfield Elmore, 86, of Mountain Grove, were conducted Saturday at Denlow with the Rev. V.H. Kastning of Noble officiating. Mr Elmore died Friday morning. He had been ill only a week. Born in Putnam Co. TN, March 2 1853, he moved to Kansas with his mother as a young man. When he was about 25 yrs old he moved to Douglas county and lived in the Denlow community up to a few months ago, when he moved to Mountain Grove. He married Martha A Cooper, also of Denlow, who survives with their three sons and four daughters. Children are Mrs. Florence Strunk of Los Angeles CA; Ezra of Hartshorn, OK; Elbert of Kinsley, KS; Mrs Iva Hopper and Joe Elmore of Coffeyville, KS; Mrs Zona Luttrell of Amoret MO; and Mrs Violet Lott of Mountain Grove, MO. Mr Elmore was a charter member of the Denlow General Baptist Church which he joined after his conversion at the age of 30. He retained his membership in the church up to his death. Besides his wife and children he is survived by one sister, Mrs Frank Curnutt of Ava. Among those attending the funeral were Mr and Mrs Frank Curnutt, Mr and Ms Floyd Curnutt,, Fred Curnutt, Inez Curnutt, Mr and Mrs Fred Livingsten and Ramsey Smith, all of Ava."
