Gertrude Matthias, 82, of 2201 Erie Ave., Sheboygan, died Saturday evening, Oct. 6, at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ballhorn Chapels, Sheboygan. The Rev. Verlyn Dobberstein will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Matttias (sic), nee Gertrude Buchberger, was born Sept. 18, 1902, in Sheboygan County, daughter of the late John and Anna Hauser Buchberger. She attended elementary schools in the Town of Centerville. She was married to Henry Matthias, May 10, 1928, at Cleveland. The couple lived in Cleveland until 1968 when the (sic) moved to Sheboygan. They operated the Matthias Dairy in Cleveland from 1924 to 1945. Her husband preceded her in death in 1969. Mrs. Matthias was a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include four sons, Elroy of Milwaukee, Merlin of Sheboygan, Bart of Waupun and Willard of Cleveland; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Kraft of Sheboygan, Mrs. Joe (Dorothy) Petsch of Appleton and Mrs. Donald (Gloria) Hopt of Howards Grove; a sister, Mrs. Ella Phieleke of Sheboygan; 30 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death a (sic) brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, Sheboygan, 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Monday afternoon and Tuesday until the time of services. Memorials may be made in her name or (sic) Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.
