She was born July 13, 1921 in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late William and Olga (Rautmann) Voss.
She attended schools in Manitowoc County.
On August 23, 1947 Gladys married Merlin Schleunes in the parsonage at Bethel United Church of Christ.
She was a homemaker most of her life.
Gladys was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel and the Women's Guild. She was a past member of Bethel UCC where she was a Sunday school superintendent, teacher, a member of the church choir and Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, quilting, embroidery and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Merlin of Kiel; four children, Karen (Don) Kelly of Schofield, Linda Schleunes, Mark Schleunes, Jane (Lloyd) Stolzmann, all of Kiel; and four grandchildren, Kristin (Mike) Vraney, Kimberly (Rick) Borchardt, Becky (Jason) Litwaitis and Amy (Tony) Thrasher. She is further survived by six great grandchildren, Alexandra and William Vraney, Ashley and Chase Borchardt, Kiersten and Hailey Litwaitis; two brothers, Orville Voss of Millhome, Willis Voss of Newton; one sister, Delores Kress of Cleveland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edgar Baumann, Ellen Kolpack, Karl and Brenda Schleunes, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and her first husband, Marvin TeWinkel, killed during World War II.
Funeral services for Gladys will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 424 Fremont St., Kiel with Rev. Judine Duerwaechter officiating. Entombment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Town of Sheboygan.
