Thomas A. Douglas, one of the pioneer residents of Cheyenne, died this morning at 9:45 o'clock at his home, 320 W. Twenty-third street, after a long illness, from chronic meningitis, surrounded by his wife and children. The funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Congregational church.

Mr. Douglas was born in Cambria county, Pennsylvania, 70 years ago and came west to Cheyenne in 1869, being one of the oldest residents of this city. He was formerly on the Cheyenne police force and served as constable in this city for twelve years. Mr. Douglas was not a Civil war veteran but was in the Pennsylvania militia during the invasion of Maryland by Lee, and saw service at that time.

The deceased is survived by a widow and three daughters, Mrs. A.R. Whiteley, Mrs. John Von Kennell and Miss May Douglas, all of this city.

The casket will not be opened at the church but friends may view the remains at the house from 10:30 until 12 o'clock.
