ALVER KISSINGER
(1915 - 2008)
Alver J. Kissinger, age 93, a resident of the village of Cleveland, went to his Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1915, in the town of Meeme, the son of the late George and Anna (Wolf) Kissinger. He attended Taylor Grade School in the town of Meeme. On Jan. 15, 1936, he was united in marriage to Elvira Mueller, and the couple resided in many locations throughout Manitowoc County. In 1953, the couple settled in the village of Cleveland. Mrs. Kissinger passed away on Sept. 28, 2004. Alver was employed by the Matthias Dairy of Cleveland and later at the Kohler Company of Kohler, where he worked for 22 years. He was a member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cleveland and served as church janitor for 28 years, with his wife Elvira, who was church janitress.
Alver is survived by one son: Eugene (Gail) Kissinger of Sheboygan; one daughter: Barbara Kissinger of Cleveland; three grandchildren: Peter (Norah) Kissinger; Penny (Dennis) Grimm; and David Kissinger, all of Sheboygan; five great-grandchildren: one brother: Burton Kissinger of Howards Grove; one sister: ElVera Bunge of Plymouth; and one brother-in-law: Wilbert Mueller of Sheboygan. His parents, wife, one brother, four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 29, 2008, at 1 p.m. at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. The Pastor David Endorf will officiate, with burial to follow at St. Johannes Cemetery in Cleveland.
A memorial fund for the church has been established in Alver Kissinger's name.
