Elvera was born on June 18, 1922 in the Town of Meeme (Manitowoc County) a daughter of the late George and Anna (Wolf) Kissinger.
She attended Taylor Grade School in Manitowoc County and attended Howards Grove High School.
On September 4, 1943 she married Rueben Bunge at St. John United Church of Christ in Schwartzwald. The couple has farmed since 1956 in the Town of Lima retiring in 1983. Rueben preceded her in death on October 1, 1984.
She was employed at Gilson Brothers in Plymouth, Steinhardt Brothers Mink Farm in Plymouth, and the B-B-Q Restaurant in Plymouth for many years.
She was a member of Salem Plankroad Church and belonged to the Ladies Aid Society in the Church where she served as treasurer for many years.
Elvera was a member of Dye Road Homemakers, Dye Road 4-H Club and served as president in the Waldo PTA.
She also volunteered at both the Plymouth Senior Center, Generations and at the Courthouse in Sheboygan.
Elvera truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards, dancing, working jigsaw puzzles, and traveling.
Survivors include: One son: Monroe (Kathleen) Bunge of Huntington Beach, California; Two daughters: Celeste (Kim) Phalin of Sheboygan and Paulette (Scott) Ditter of the Town of Lima; Five grandchildren: Tabitha (Gary) Krause of Valders, Adam Phalin of Sheboygan, Brandy (Eric) Westphal of North Byron, Haley (Brian) Gilles of the Town of Sheboygan Falls, Jacqueline Bunge of Las Vegas, NV; Eight great-grandchildren: Thomas-John, Gage (Chelsea) and Nolan Phalin, Macy Gilles, Zoe and Chase Ertel, Isabel and Chael Westphal; and one great-great-grandchild: Bennett Phalin.
She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Elvera was preceded in death by three brothers, Alver, Burton and Clarence Kissinger; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday (August 25, 2021) at 6:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Pastor Dale Miller, Pastor of Salem Plankroad UCC, will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem Plankroad UCC Cemetery in the Town of Sheboygan Falls.
Friends may call at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth on Wednesday (Aug. 25) from 4:00 PM until the time of services.
