Vernon graduated from Kiel High School and then proudly served in the National Guard. He worked for Tecumseh Products Co. for over 42 years. Vernon was a very generous, good-hearted person that was always available to provide assistance. He was innovative and liked tinkering in his garage and taking care of his yard. He enjoyed polka music and dancing and was also an avid toy collector of model cars and tractors. He even owned a couple of classic cars - a ’56 Cadillac and a ’66 Thunderbird.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Jane; children: David (Jodie) Boeldt, Diane (Mark) Stenz, and Debbie Boeldt (Ben Fell); five grandchildren: Nathan, Kayla, and Kyle Stenz, Kaitlyn and Sara Boeldt; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Marion Hartwig, Plymouth, WI; Betty Groth, Oshkosh, WI; Jane and Garret Hanke, Howards Grove, WI; two sister-in-laws: Judy Boeldt, Howards Grove, WI; Judy Scott, Glenbulah, WI; Inson Lord, Layton, UT; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Helmuth and Edna; sisters, brother and brothers-in-law: Mabel and Kermit Liermann, Norman Boeldt, Otto Hartwig, Lorraine and Markus Nagel, Willard and Fern Leiteritz, Bernice and Dennis Hasenstein, Donald Groth, Jerry Scott and Jim Scott.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (1724 Madison St.) in New Holstein. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, and again from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the church on the day of the service. A committal service will take place immediately following the service at the Holy Rosary Parish Cemetery. A vigil prayer service will take place at the funeral home following Wednesday evenings visitation.
