Notes From Newton:
Mrs. Carl Duvenick (sic) died at the home of her son, Alex, Sunday, Oct. 22,
at the age of 73 years. Burial took place at the German Lutheran cemetery
last Thursday afternoon. Rev. C. Sieker performed the last sad rites.
May her soul rest in peace.

DEATH TAKES PIONEER
Mrs. Carl Duvenek, Newton, Dead at Age of 72, Funeral Thursday
Death has claimed another of the county's pioneer settlers, Mrs. Carl Duvenek,
one of the best known of the early day residents of Newton, answering to the
final summons at the age of 72 years. Mrs. Duvenek had been in feeble health
for some time and her death was not expected. An aged husband and family of
children survive and two brothers also survive, Henry Keuhne of Washington and
August Keuhne of Allaway, Mich. Mrs. Duvenek was a woman who made friends and
held friends and her death will come as a personal loss to those who knew her
best. The funeral will be held at Newton Church, Newton, tomorrow afternoon at
1, with interment at the Newton Cemetery. Mrs. Frank Cook, this city, is a
niece of Mrs. Duvenek.
