(1901 - 1998)

Leo A. Singer, age 97, formerly of 809 S. 25th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday evening, November 12, 1998, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 16, 1998, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Ronald Reimer with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

He was born March 2, 1901, in Kaukauna, son of the late John and Anna Ruppert Singer. On September 15, 1925, he married the former Margaret A. Keune, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple celebrated over 70 years of marriage together. She preceded him in death on March 30, 1996. Leo was employed as a machinist and tool and die maker for 45 years at the Aluminum Specialty Company of Manitowoc, retiring in 1968 as Plant Superintendent. Mr. Singer was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a 45 year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 3706 of Manitowoc.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janice Singer, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret (Sally) and Glen Weekes, Manitowoc, Mary and John Platner, Eagle River; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren Marion; one sister, Margaret Hastreiter, Waukesha; one sister-in-law, Singer, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is further survived by a special friend, Ed Schmitt, Manitowoc. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Singer; one granddaughter, Kathleen Weekes Check; three brothers, Clarence, Roy and Francis.

Friends may call at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center for the care they extended to Leo.
