FREDERICK ROEHL

Frederick Roehl, 85, well known town of Mosel farmer, died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Helen Jaehnig, Route 1, Cleveland, after a week's illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of which he was a member. The Rev. William Schink will officiate.
Mr. Roehl was born September 9, 1850, in Freistadt, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottfried Roehl and came to this country when he was 12 years old. He settled in the town of Mosel where he first engaged in carpentry work.
While a young man he was employed by the Untied State government and did carpentry work at Fort Snelling, Minn., and other places. After he returned to the town of Mosel, he married Miss Julia Wunsch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Wunsch, on December 8, 1874. For a short time he worked as a carpenter at Chilton and then bought the town of Mosel homestead where he farmed until 1913 when he retired from active work.
He and his wife, who died March 16, 1927, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary December 1924, at the homestead now owned by his son, Edward, and many friends and relatives took part in the celebration.
Survivors are seven daughters, Mrs. Herman Bergner and Mrs. Charles Doersch, both of Cleveland, Mrs. August Fischer and Mrs. Helen Jaehnig, both of the town of Centerville, Mrs. Herman Gutenberger town of Mosel, Mrs. Ed Gutknecht, De Pere and Mrs. Elva Erbstoezer of Haven; one son, Edward town of Mosel; one sister, Mrs. Mary Schneider, Sheboygan; two step-sisters, Mrs. William W??ke, West Allis, and Mrs. Lena Nordtholz, Howards Grove; three step-brothers, Herman Toepel, state of Washington; and Gustave and Albert Toepel, Sheboygan; ?? grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
