Hugo E. Wunsch, 78, of R. 1, Sheboygan, a well-known retired Town of Mosel farmer, died Tuesday evening at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital.

He had been a patient at the hospital for the past week.

A Town of Mosel native, Mr. Wunsch operated a farm and hatchery in partnership with his sons until his retirement in 1957. He also was active in a variety of church and civic activities.

He served 33 years as town clerk, 15 years as treasurer of the Mosel school board, was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church (now Grace Lutheran Church) at Haven and served for 18 years on the church council, was a vice president of the Sheboygan County Fruit Growers Association, and was a member and former vice president of the cemetery board.

In 1933, he was selected Wisconsin Agriculturalist's "master Farmer" and in 1946 he received the Skelly Agricultural Achievement Award.

Mr. Wunsch was born Feb. 16, 1888, a son of the late Otto and Laura Eisner Wunsch. He attended district schools and was graduated from the University of Wisconsin short farm course in 1909.

On June 25, 1911, he was married to Ella Vogel in the Town of Centerville. They spent their entire married life on the Wunsch homestead farm in Mosel. Mrs. Wunsch died Aug. 31, 1964.

Survivors are two sons, Harvey and Leslie, who are now operating the homestead farm and hatchery; three brothers, Richard of Pulaski, Robert of Sheboygan, and Edwin of Freeport, Ill.; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, Haven, with the Rev. Floyd Gogolin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel at Cleveland from 2 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday, and then at the church from noon until the hour of services.

A memorial fund in Mr. Wunsch's name has been established for Grace Lutheran Church.
