Ernst Grotegut, 92, a retired Town of Centerville (Manitowoc County) farmer, died Sunday evening at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc.
Mr. Grotegut, who had been residing on the home farm on the Lakeshore Road, two miles south of Newton, now operated by his son, Alvin, had been hospital-ized one week. A native of Centerville, he was born Jan. 25, 1873, a son of the late Fred and Louise Sewald Grotegut. He married Mary Dehne, Jan. 25, 1902.
Following their marriage the couple operated the above-mentioned Centerville farm. His wife died in December, 1932. Mr. Grotegut was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in the Town of Newton.
Surviving, in addition to the son, Alvin, are another son, Raymond, R. 1, Newton; four daughters, Mrs. Roland Freis (Linda), Kiel, Mrs. Edgar Jacobi (Nelda), R. 1, Newton, and Miss Orma Grotegut and Mrs. Urban Jacoboski (Violet), Manitowoc; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One daughter also preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Salem Church, Newton, with the Rev. Norman Hoeflinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Centerville.
