LaVerne M. Griepentrog, age 95, of Manitowoc, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at River Woods Place.
LaVerne was born on December 24, 1927 in the Town of Meeme, daughter of the late Mathias and Hildegard (Stein) Kleckner. She was a graduate of St. Wendel grade school in 1942 and from Sheboygan Central High in 1946. On May 22, 1948 LaVerne married Eugene "Hoody" Grott at St. Wendel Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1948 due to an automobile accident. On October 10, 1953 she married Henry P. Schwinn. On July 8, 1967 LaVerne married Myron Griepentrog. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1996. LaVerne was employed at Tecumseh Products of New Holstein from January 1957 until her retirement in March 1990.
Survivors include her children: Sandra Grott (Larry Duzeski), Manitowoc, Linda Grott (Peter Wilke), Manitowoc, Deborah Schwinn (John Backhaus), Manitowoc; son-in-law: Paul Kanugh, De Pere; step-children: Rick and Sue Griepentrog, GA, Amy O'Shea, Manitowoc; fifteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister: JoAnne Kleckner; one brother and sister-in-law: Edward (Marlene) Kleckner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Laverne was preceded in death by her parents: Mathias and Hildegard Kleckner; three husbands: Eugene "Hoody" Grott, Henry P. Schwinn, Myron Griepentrog; one daughter: Patricia Schwinn Kanugh, one great-granddaughter: Marcelena R. Renteria, two brothers: John Kleckner, Thomas Kleckner.
Private family services were held at the Pfeffer Funeral Home. Deacon Alan Boeldt officiated burial followed at St. Wendel Cemetery.
