Louise W. Schmitz, age 91, formerly of Laurel Grove, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.

Louise was born July 25, 1916, in the town of Centerville, daughter of the late August and Hulda Dehne Hintz. On Aug. 11, 1937, she was married to Marvin L. Schmitz. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1977. She was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Center and Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Lawrence Naidl, rural Manitowoc; one son, Jeffrey Schmitz, Newton; five grandchildren, Brenda (Kenneth) Osesek and their children, Eric and Samuel, Manitowoc, Brian (Katee) Schmitz and their children, Chloe and Carly, Valders, Randy Schmitz and his children, Aiden and Kylie, Manitowoc, Kenneth Schmitz, Newton, and Jennifer Schmitz, Manitowoc; two step-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Angela) Kollar and their children, Austin and Bradley, Manitowoc, Christopher (Kari) Kollar and their children, Bailey and Peter, Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; infant brother; and brother, Rueben, in 1971.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, 6524 county Highway C, Newton. The Rev. Kyle Sorensen will officiate, and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Shady Lane, or Laurel Grove.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shady Lane and Laurel Grove for the loving care they gave our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; also to Holy Family Memorial Hospice for their fine service. A great thank you to Pastor Kyle Sorensen.
