During the succeeding four years Jackson Township received several families, viz. : the Tisdalls, Hemrys, Petermans, Hoys, Biblers, Newells and Bears. Henry Hemry, with his wife, Sarah, and eight children, some of whom were full grown, settled in Section 3 in the spring of 1834. He was a native of Virginia, and removed to Carroll County, Ohio, where he married and lived until his coming to Hancock. He accumulated a large amount of land in this county, though he died about five years after settling on Lye Creek. Six of his children are residents of Hancock County.
