George Hemry was the son of John and Catherine (Maiden name unknown) Hemry. He had four brothers and five sisters. Family data states that he died in Chariton County, Missouri and was buried in a cemetery over looking the Missouri River. I am not sure what cemetery he is buried in at this time (2019). I have been searching for 40 years but have not located his grave. It has been passed down through the family that his grave was lost when the Missouri River changed it course and washed out part of the cemetery where George Hemry was buried.
George Henry served in the War of 1812, he enlisted 21 Sept. 1812 and was discharged 16 March 1813. He served in Capt. Thomas Latta's Company of Infantry in the First Ohio Regiment.
He married Sarah Kail 3 February 1815 in Harrison County, Ohio. George moved from Carroll County, Ohio to Daviess County, Missouri about 1842. He had gone back to Ohio to collect some debts and see family and friends, on his return to Missouri he contracted Cholera and was let off the steamboat at Brunswick, Missouri due to his sickness and he died the following day.
