She was a devout christian lady and a member of the Baptist church, beloved by all who knew her, and one who has made the world better for having lived in it, and earned a reward in the world to come. The funeral took place from the residence of Mr. D. M. Dansby yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, interment at Steep Hollow Cemetery.

Following obituary supplied by great-great-grandson, Mervin Peters

At 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Mrs. Lucinda A. Dansby died after a lingering illness, at the home of her son Mr. D. M. Dansby in this city. She was born in Macon county, Alabama, November 28, 1819, making her at the time of her death 80 years, 6 months and 10 days old. She has resided in Texas since 1852, the greater part of which was spent in this county. The old Dansby homestead on Carter's Creek four miles east of Bryan, is one of the oldest in the county, and here she lived in happiness for many years, until the death of her husband several years ago, since which time she has lived with her children, quietly and peacefully awaiting the time when she should sleep by his side in the old cemetery at Steep Hollow church.

Through the providence of God she was spared to live a long and useful life, and her good deeds will live many years in the memory of those who knew her. Many troubled and aching hearts has she made glad; many burdens have been lightened by her kind voice and gracious smile, and long years will she be loved by those who have felt the benediction of her ministering. Hers was a glorious life; the world was made better by her having lived, and now that she has hearkened to the Master's voice, the gates of Heaven have been thrown open to receive her into that home prepared for the children of God, before the foundations of the world were laid.

She was a member of the Christian church and died triumphant in the faith, henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness. She was the mother of seven children, two of whom survive her, Mr. D. M. Dansby of this city and Mrs. Flournoy Cole of Bethel. Besides those there are many grand children and other relatives to mourn her loss and to all of them the Pilot extends profound sympathy. She was laid to rest this afternoon beside her husband in Steep Hollow cemetery. Sweet dreams.

More info on Children:
Three of their children do not have located burial sites. Isabella was born June 23, 1850 in Caddo Parish, LA and died in Cass County, TX November 28, 1862. Victoria was born October 29, 1853 in Cado Parish, LA and died in Cass County, TX on October 24, 1860. Lafayette was born November 11,1846 in Mobil County, AL and died while engaged in the Civil War according to family history although his death date of October 5, 1865 is shortly after the conflict was over. No knowledge exists about his involvement but it is thought he may have joined a "guerrilla party" of Confederates after the conflict had been going for a while.
