He worked as a carpenter or cabinet maker. His birth date was between July 1, 1826 and June 30, 1827. It appears as if Margaret Proudfoot presumably buried in Corbin Cemetery, Huntingdon County, Pa. was his wife. In June 1863, he legally resided in Tyrone Borough, Blair Co., Pa and became registered as Class II eligible for military conscription, but he is not known to have any record of military service. He apparently died after July 1 in 1863. (There exists conflicting information in favor of varous death dates between April, 1863 and sometime in 1868. The source for birth and death data stated in this index is Oakdale cemetery records.) His body was originally buried somewhere else, but it was removed from there and reinterred in Matthias Proudfoot's lot at Oakdale Cemetery 30 Oct 1912 because of a directive in Matthias' will.
He appears to have four known children: a son born in 1859 identified as Eldon in the 1860 census enumeration (and not found in any later records); a daughter Emma born after 1860 living with the Proudfoot grandparents in 1870 (and identified as an heir in R.J. Proudfoot's probate papers); and two unchristened infants born in 1863 and 1864.
