He died Sunday at Franklin Parish Hospital in Winnsboro after a brief illness.
Mr. Pierce was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alma M. Pierce of Winnsboro; five sons, Sam H. Pierce of New Orleans, John Tee Pierce Jr., Andrew Pierce and Dock Pierce, all of Houston, Tex. and Artis Lee Pierce of Crowville; one daughter, Mrs. Violet Shuff of New Orleans; one brother, V. W. Pierce of Winnsboro; one sister, Mrs. Marie Stringer of Jonesboro; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
