DEATH CLAIMS PIONEER WHO GAVE MEMORIAL
Peter Luecker, 71, pioneer businessman of Brillion who recently presented the American Legion post of that village with a site for the erection of a Legion home and memorial in honor of his son, Elmer Luecker, killed in the World War overseas, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Janke at Brillion at four o'clock this morning. Death was due to heart trouble and followed a brief illness of less than two weeks.
Mr. Luecker was a native of Manitowoc County, born at Centerville September 13 1860. He located at Brillion in 1881 and for nearly forty years was manager of a cold storage plant in that village, retiring three years ago. He was married three times, all of his wives preceding him in death; the shock of the demise of the last Mrs. Luecker who was Augusta Krueger having affected Mr. Luecker's health. Her death was due to monoxide gas with which the couple were overcome in their home and Mr. Luecker never fully recovered from the experience.
The deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward Janke and by three brothers, Rudolph of Cleveland, Emil at Green Bay and Benjamin who resides in West Virginia. His son Elmer Luecker, lost his life in France and his son's death was a very great shock of Mr. Luecker.
Funeral services will be held at Friedens Evangelical Church in Brillion. Rev. Kasper will officiate.
