Sally was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. She attended school till the age of 15 and then starting doing housework and helping her mother.
Like any young girl she had dreams of being a circus performer. She loved horses and wanted to be a trick rider but she knew she could never own a horse.
But in 1933 Sally received a radio for her graduation gift. The first hill-billy program she heard was Shorty Fincher. She would now dream that someday she would sing with him. The more she listened the more determined she was to be a singer.
In 1934 her chance came. Shortys sister Susie married and left the group, so Sally auditioned and got the job.
Once joining with Shorty, they traveled over most of the Eastern and Midwestern states and played in many radio stations. Eventually they came to York County and started Valley View Park.
February 7, 1942 Sally and Shorty married. They had a son James.
Sally passed away living in Leader Nursing Home East, Harrisburg.
