Daniel P. Dhein, 73, of 83 Raider Heights, Kiel, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 19, 1993 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 13, 1920 in Cleveland, Wis., son of the late Joseph and Clara Miller Dhein. He attended school at St. Wendel Catholic School, Cleveland.
On June 14, 1941, he married Mildred Schneider at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Town of Meeme. He was a self-employed auctioneer for 27 years and founded Dhein Realty and Appraisal Service in Kiel, serving Kiel and the surrounding communities for 45 years. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel; Christian Men's Club, member of the Kiel Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Kiel Kiwanis Club., Kiel Industrial Development Corporation, and a member of the American Association of Certified Appraisers Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred, nine children, Carol Jean (Walter) Akright, Kansas City, Kan.; Janice (Richard) Fogeltanz, Two Rivers; Nancy (Roger) Wriedt, Madison; Thomas (Kay) Dhein, Kiel; Sandy and Phil Buzzell, Madison Elizabeth (Michael) Scharenbroch, Sheboygan; Margie (Kevin) Jones, Sheboygan; John (Janeen) Dhein, Green Bay; Jim (Barb) Dhein, Kiel; a good friend, Dally Freis; 23 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph (Eileen) Dhein, Manitowoc; James (Marion) Dhein, Sherwood; Edward (Marlene) Dhein, Sheboygan; two sisters, Marie (Merritt) Roelse, Sheboygan, and Pat (Ken) Zastrow, Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by one sister, Harriet; one son, Dan Jr., one brother, Stanley; one grandson, Todd, and one great-granddaughter, Destiny.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 22, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. Loren Nys, S.D.S., pastor, officiating, preceded by brief family rites at 10 a.m,. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Meiselwitz Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, and on Friday, from 8 a.m. until the time of services. A wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday evening, at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established in his name.
Dan was a well-known and respected business man in Kiel and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
