Prominent Glouster Man Dies in Columbus Hospital

GLOUSTER--Harley Hambel, prominent Glouster resident, died at Grant Hospital Wednesday afternoon at 2:15 o'clock from pneumonia, following a major operation. Mr. Hambel, who was 43 years old, was born in Morgan County where he resided until moving to Glouster 20 years ago.

He had been with the post office department for 22 years, starting his work with this department as a rural mail carrier. He was then appointed assistant postmaster of Glouster for several years. At the time of his death he was a city mail carrier.

Mr. Hambel was a member of the American Legion, holding the office of treasurer in this organization at the time of his death and was a former post commander. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of which order he was a past master. He was also a member of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Lodges.

Mr. Hambel was married twice, his first wife having died in 1932. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Charles Hambel, of Morgan County, and sister, Mrs. Earl Mingus, also of Morgan County; his wife and two children, Raymond, age 17, and Ruth Lela, age 11.

Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery.
