Roger F. Schlafke

Roger F. Schlafke, 53, of 2412 Henry St., died Monday at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born May 15, 1930, in Sheboygan, a son of Lena Kimme Schlafke and the late Herbert A. Schlafke. He graduated from Central High School.

Mr. Schlafke served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On May 26, 1951, he married Beatrice H. Gumm at Zion United Church of Christ.

He was employed at Citizens Bancorportion for 34 years as an auditor, and had been recently promoted in personal banking administrative officer.

Mr. Schlafke attended the Graduate School of banking, University of Wisconsin Madison and completed several AIB and BAI courses.

He was a member of Zion U.C.C., past president of the Bank Administration Institute's Fox Valley Chapter, a member and past secretary, treasurer of the Sheboygan Kiwanis Club and a member of V.F.W. Post 1230.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Steven and Daniel, three daughters, Mrs. Steven (Jane) Hermann , Mrs. Michael (Mary) Markgraf and Mrs. Robert (Lynnette) Fritsch, all of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, his mother, of Sheboygan, and a sister, Miss Betty Schlafke, of Sheboygan.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home. The Rev. George Mohr, pastor of Zion UCC will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services. V.F.W. Post 1230 will conduct a memorial service there at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Schlafke's name for the Kiwanis Youth Foundation.
