There is no marker for Luperla, but thanks to Sheri Pope Tarman for the photo of John’s marker, which represents the area next to which she IS interred, see image.

Luperla was daughter of William and Ann Farrington. Her marriage to John Ensign had the following children: George Ardene, William Emerson, Anna Luperla, Carrie, and Howard Ulysses.

Funeral arrangements were taken care of by her step daughter, Mary Alice Ensign Kellom.

Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, February 11, 1913, pg 4 col 6: Former Chico Woman Is Dead. Mrs. Luperla Ensign, a former resident of Chico and relative of the Kellom family of this city, passed away at her home in Oakland on Sunday. Deceased was 84 years old.

The remains arrived in Chico on the El Dorado Flyer last night and were taken to the Engel parlors. The funeral will be conducted from the parlors this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be made in the family plot in the local G.A.R. cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Luperla Ensign, a former resident of Chico was conducted from the Engel funeral parlors yesterday afternoon. Rev. M. Slaughter officiating. Members of the Halleck Post, G.A.R., officiated as pallbearers. Interment was in the Grand Army plot in the Chico cemetery.
