Catherine Rothmann Chilton Times March 18, 1893

Died – At her home in this city of Friday night March 10, 1893, Catherine Rothmann, nee Baumgarten, was born Nov. 15, 1818 at Zabern Alsace, Germany. At the age of eight years she came to America with her parents and located at Buffalo, where she resided until 1836 when she moved to Chicago. In 1837 she was married to Michael Rothmann, who was then a regular in the United States service and the following year they moved to Green Bay, where the military post was then established. In 1840 she and her husband located on a farm in the town of Calumet and resided there until 1877, when they moved to this city. They lived a happy and contented life until a couple of years ago, when Mr. Rothmann passed to the great beyond. Mrs. Rothmann was a woman with noble traits of character and was loved by all who knew her. She had been in good health up to a short time ago and was sitting up conversing with her daughters shortly before her death, which was sudden being caused by heart failure. She leaves three sons and five daughters to mourn her death. Her remains were taken to Calumet on Tuesday and placed by the side of her husband.
