Charles E. Carey, 80, of Shelton, died July 3 at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
Born in Centralia on December 21, 1902, he was a resident of Montesano for many years. He retired from Weyerhauser in 1967, and he made his home in the Shelton area for the past four years.
On March 15, 1924 he married Edna Pearsall who survives him at the family home. He was a member and president of the Chehalis Valley Gem Club and also was involved in the Westside Dayton Fire District 16 Association.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Robert of Shelton; a daughter, Arta Carlstad of Hoquiam, a sister, Chloe Richards of Orange, Florida, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 8 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Montesano.
