Marie was an excellent housewife and mother when the war effort called upon her in 1941. She was hired at Bendix as a secretary and quickly became the executive secretary in charge of all other secretaries at the facility. She continued after WW II with the firm until retiring due to illness in 1961. Marie Bender passed away on December 8, 1962 at old Mercy Hospital, she was 57 years of age. In addition to her two daughters, she is survived by her five grandchildren: Kenneth Ira Nerim Jr., Linda Nerim, Jeffrey Alan James Nerim, Jeanne Marie Hoffman and fifth grandchild, Michael Herbert Nerim, who was born six months after her death. As of this writing, fifty one years since her passing, she also has five great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
