On Sunday, Nov. 29th Jacob Haerig died at his home in the town of Brothertown at the age of eighty-one years and six months. Deceased was born May 31, 1833, at Falbach, Dreis, Kochem, Rhine province, Germany. He came to America in 1863, locating first at Calvary, Fond du Lac County. A few years later he purchased a tract of land in the town of Brothertown which he cleared and built thereon a substantial home. In 1872 he rented his farm and went to the copper district of Northern Michigan where he was employed for eleven years by the Heckla Mining company. In 1883 he returned to his farm in Brothertown where he resided until claimed by death. July 12, 1885 he was married to Mrs. Mathilda Langer. In 1903 he disposed of this farm to his step-son, John Langer.
Mr. Haerig was a companionable gentleman and was held in high esteem by his large circle of friends and neighbors. His funeral was held on Wednesday from Holy Trinity Catholic church of which he was a devout member for many years, Rev. Fr. J. H. Huhn conducting the services. He is survived by a widow and two daughters, Kate of Chicago and Elizabeth of Milwaukee.
