Mary Delesca McDowell was born August 6, 1860, in Galesburg, Ill. Her early years were spent in that state. On the 25th of October, 1878, she was married to Parson McIntyre Fowler, also of Galesburg, Ill. To this union were born seven children, all of whom are living. Fred L. of Emmett, Idaho; Mrs. Z. E. Burnham of Carter, S.D.; Mrs. C. L. Walker of Joseph, Oregon; Raymond of Whitten, S. D.; Marvel, Max and Jim, of Emmett, Idaho. In 1880 with her husband she moved to Nebraska, where the family resided until 1909, when they came to Emmett, Idaho, in hopes of benefiting Mr. Fowler's health. They lived on their ranch 8 miles from Emmett until Mr. Fowler's death, May 27, 1910, since then the family home has been in Emmett. Mrs. Fowler has been ailing for a number of years, and at times a great sufferer which she bore with patience and cheerfulness. During the last illness which lasted four weeks, all of her children were in attendance at her bedside. In early womanhood she became a Christian and a member of the Methodist church, her daily life exemplifying the Christ spirit. Mrs. Fowler left this life October 3, 1919, at 2:30 p.m., with a heavenly smile lighting her face as she slipped away.
