Early Life: Travis was born October 7, 1980, in La Mesa, California, the firstborn child in the blended family of Steven and Betty Duckett-Shaw. Travis has seven older brothers and sisters who enriched his life. At age two, he became the older brother of Tyler Matthew. Travis was raised in San Diego County, California, before moving to Orem, Utah, in 1993. In high school, Travis participated in baseball, soccer, lacrosse and debate. Also, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Life's Work | Service | Interests: His charismatic and outgoing personality brought him recognition and many awards. He married Mindy Carter in October 2000, becoming a stepfather to Bridger Hunt. In 2001, his daughter, Timberlyn Dior, the light of his life, was born. He was loving, patient and relished his role as a father. His family and friends will remember his smile, enthusiasm, kindness and gracious attitude toward all. Travis Christian Duckett-Shaw, of Orem, Utah, passed from this life December 10, 2009. He was 29 years old.
Survived By: His wife, Mindy; children, Bridger and Timberlyn; parents, Betty & Steve; brothers: M. Christopher "Chris" Duckett (Diane), Justin Nephi Duckett, Tyler Matthew Duckett-Shaw; sisters: Andrea Lynne "Annie" Duckett Hundley (Paul), Stefani Ann Duckett Hutsenpiller (Jason), Allison Michelle "Allie" Duckett Snow, Allison Anne Black Bautista and Laura Ellen Duckett Welch (Michael); nieces, nephews and extended family.

On 30 April 2010, after Travis passed away, Utah Valley University awarded him his diploma. Although he was four classes short, a former teacher saw to it that he be honored for his "contributions to the school and to his education" and believed he had "merited a graduation." The university agreed. Travis' children, Timberlyn and Bridger, accepted the diploma in his behalf.
