Funeral services for Juan Peña, 95, of Lovington, were held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Manuel Ibarra officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Cemetery.

Mr. Peña was born on June 13, 1915 in Loving, New Mexico to Demetrio and Cayetana (Chacon) Peña and passed away on November 27, 2010 at his home.

He married Epigmenia Parra in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on October 31, 1959.

He was a farmer and later in life was custodian for Lea Elementary until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and farm animals and was an Atlanta Braves fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Eusebio "Chevo" Peña and Ferman "Chaman" Peña and one great-grandchild: Vince Flores.

He is survived by his wife of the home, five daughters: Lorenza Flores of Lovington; Maggie Rubealcaba of Irving, TX; Enedina Manzelli and husband Andrew Torres, Christina and husband Samuel Bernal, Olivia and husband Cristino Balderrama, all of Lovington and one son: Juan P. Peña of Lovington, NM. Also, nineteen grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren survive him.
