Wilfred James Burns was a circus performer and strongman. He was baptised as William George James Burns on St Alphonse church Allumette Island, Canada. Later records found show his given name only as Wilfred. He married Mary Elodia Wagner on July 6, 1900 in Myrtle Point, OR. They divorced in 1913. He died following a fall from the trapeze hanging from his hot air balloon. Survivors included his two sons, Charles Wilfred Burns and Samuel Bernard "Sam" Burns.
