Marshall D. Briggs, 89, a 50 year resident of Olympia, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1988, in St. Peter Hospital.
He was born Dec. 7, 1898, to Lyman and Delila (Johnson) Briggs in Gile, Wis. He moved to Centralia in 1903 and was graduated from Centralia High School. He was married to Thelma P. Carey in Chehalis. She died in January 1968.
Mr. Briggs worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for 34 years and retired in 1964. He was a life member of CWACIO union, the Telephone Pioneers Association and a life member of the Masonic Lodge No. 63 F&AM in Centralia.
Surviving are one son, Marshall L. Raymond; also three grandchildren Marsha, Randy and Rick and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Mr. Briggs will begin at 1 PM on Saturday, Jan. 9 in Stricklin-Greenwood Cemetery, Centralia. The rev. Ray Whitlow of the United Churches in Raymond will officiate.
