A.R. Naylor passed from this life into eternal glory on Feb. 10, 2010, after a nine year battle with cancer. He celebrated his 100th birthday in November with many family and friends.

He was a quiet, unassuming, Christian man whose mind was always thinking, learning, planning his next project and figuring how to make something better. Once he learned something he never seemed to forget it and could recall dates and details. He was a retired machinist who liked to design and build things. For example, he once designed and constructed a model of a flying car. When you land, just detach the car from the wings and fuselage and drive away. He had the ability to solve problems that stumped many of his peers and was always designing a "better mouse trap".

He is survived by his son, Jimmy and wife Linda; his three granddaughters, Shelley, Dana and Jennifer; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Irwin Naylor and Dick Naylor and wife Opal; sister-in-law, Ruth Blasingame and husband Ross; brother-in-law, Cecil Armstrong and wife Betty; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Anice; his brother, Lawrence Naylor; sister, Nellie Wahl; sister-in-law, Edna Eddleman; and brother-in-law, James Armstrong.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb 18, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the New Mexico Christian Children's Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130.
