Rose Seegmiller Bell peacefully passed away on September 27, 2009 at the age of 99 at the home of her loving caregiver and daughter, Joanne Poore, in Redding, California from causes incident to age.

She was born on January 25, 1910 to Edwin Dee and Eleanor Woodbury Jarvis Seegmiller in St. George, Utah.

She married William Leslie Bell on July 8, 1933 in Washington DC, later sealing their marriage in the St. George Temple on June 20, 1935. They moved from Washington DC to Salt Lake City in 1942, a move they considered "coming home". From 1955 to 1958 they lived in Minnesota, then returned to Utah, making Orem their home. Her husband, Leslie, died in 1984. From 1997 she lived with her children. From 2001 she lived in Redding with her daughter, Joanne and her family, who lovingly and tenderly cared for her until her death.

She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many positions of teaching and leadership including Relief Society President of the Washington DC Ward and the Cottonwood Ward in Salt Lake County. She was a loving and generous friend to all she knew. Her warmth and kindness drew people to her. Traveling friends and relatives always knew there would be a nourishing meal and a warm bed at her home. She was a woman of many talents and skills which she readily taught and shared. She had a passion for music, was an accomplished pianist and generously shared her talent.

Compassion and charity were natural to her. She worked with the Hmong refugees in Orem in helping them adjust to a new culture and teaching them homemaking skills. Her many years of genealogy work and providing temple blessings for thousands of her ancestors have been a great blessing to her, to them and to many others in pursuit of their genealogy. She was close to her children and grandchildren to whom she was a pillar of strength, a mentor, a counselor, and always a friend.

She is survived by her sister Deola Seegmiller Bell of Ridgecrest, California, and by her four children, Richard Leslie Bell of San Diego, Rose Marie LeCheminant (Wilford) of Bountiful, Utah, Lawrence Jay (Larry) Bell (Anita) of Cedar City, Utah and Joanne Poore (David) of Redding, California, 17 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Leslie Bell, two grandchildren who died at birth, six sisters, Eleanor Smith, Vera Christian, Anna Anderson, Marie Roundy, Minnie Grover, and Lillian, and one brother, Edwin Jay Seegmiller.

Funeral Services in her honor will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Geneva Heights Third and Fourth Ward Chapel, 857 West 800 North, Orem, Utah. Friends and relatives may visit at the Church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
