The family moved from Hants Harbour, Newfoundland to Moncton NB, where her maiden surname spelling was changed to Addy about 1911.

She emigrated to Cambridge, MA with her sisters Eva and Elsie about 1908 at the age of 16.

Married William James Adey and thus her name changed back to Adey. They resided in Medford, MA. They figured they were related somehow, way back when. They were 3rd cousins, although they never knew that,

After her husbands untimely death, she raised her 3 children alone and also had several foster children, 1 who she raised to adulthood.
