Emilie's mother was Emily Larsen Causby, married to Thomas Causby (quartermaster for General Custer). The mother Emily died 9 days after their daughter Emilie was born and the baby (Emilie) was sent back to Mayville, ND to live with relatives. She did not live long. The mother Emily Larsen Causby is buried at Fort Meade National Cemetery where the family was stationed at the time of her death.
